From Nunavik to Kitigan Zibi manifests the spirit of independence from eight Indigenous filmmakers currently working in Quebec. It is a journey through physical and dream state terrains, local territories and private spaces, here and across the world. It includes voyages into night and the way found back through to day. The program features work by filmmakers at all stages in their careers, including emerging filmmaker Craig Commanda, whose film The Land – Aki is a silent meditation through the Mount Royal forest, to the iconic Alanis Obomsawin, whose June in Povungnituk reflects a day in the life on the land in northern territories. The program also includes documentaries by Mélanie O’Bomsawin and Caroline Monnet, video art by Marie-Josée Tremblay and animation by Diane Obomsawin, Raohseraha:wi Hemlock and Meky Ottawa.
